This workshop was designed to merge documenter and researcher, whilst bringing the researcher into a self-reflective practice of the arts herself. All documentation conducted during the workshop was on the Festival D'Art Urbain 2015 in Antananarivo, Madagascar, and it ran for the entire festival. The workshop covered the basics of documentation, where participants learned how to build a blog, use Instagram/twitter and hashtags, submit work for uploading on websites, as well as build a shared tumblr for the use of the group, but also explored the point at which documenter became researcher, and the journey that the researchers went on by bringing them into the present, alongside their documentation whilst discovering it, by making use of phenomenological research and self-reflective making.

The workshop was responding to a need to feed into building a culture of arts in the local area around the gallery space (the only contemporary gallery in Antananarivo run by a malagasy person) and it was aimed at those who were keen on being involved in the running of the gallery, or who were already involved in some way. Participants had an initial launching pad for their work as it was affiliated with the Festival D’Art Urbain. All work covering the festival was acknowledged by it/used by it on their website and social media platforms.

At the end of the course reflections and discussions as to how to continue working together took place and a tumblr for the group turned collective to share their practice was created.
